The Top RC Car Events of 2020

A lot will be happening in the radio car space this year. A bunch of races have already gone down, but there’s still many more to come. While uncertainty hangs over these meetings due to the Coronavirus situation, these are the most exciting events we can’t wait to see.

21-24 March 2020: NZIO 2020 Dirt Edition

This contest will be held in the TSB Arena A&P Showgrounds, Maire Street, Hawera, and will be nothing like any other RC event in New Zealand. First, each class is limited to 40 cars, and there will be one trial run, two qualifying rounds, and final heat. Finals will be in the standard triple mains format, but grids will be drawn randomly for each round.

Points will be awarded at the end of each round, and drivers can enter as many classes as they want to offset the extremely high cost of the venue.

18-22 March 2020: NZRCA Nitro Onroad Nationals

This venue will be open for practice from Wednesday the 18th of March to Thursday the 19th between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. The actual race will happen on the weekend from the 20th to 22nd of March 2020 in the Canterbury Radio Control Car Club, Haskett’s Road, Christchurch. Charging facilities will be available on-site, and there will also be a limited number of pit tables. However, no alcohol and smoking will be allowed on the track or pits. Also, batteries must be charged in approved LIPO-LiFe bags.

26-29 March NZRCA National Championship 1/10th EP Off-Road

This event is presented to you by Hawke’s Bay RC Racing and will feature three qualifying heats and an additional three final rounds for each class. The track will be available to drivers one day before the event and gates open at 7:00 am. Racing begins at 9:00 am sharp, and prizes will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions.
